Artist Statement
The artwork that I make is derived from hours of quiet observation. While I am soaking in the natural world, I am asking myself:
How does that tree grow?
What textures are on the trunk of that tree and how is it different from the tree next to it?
What lines are the branches making in the ways that they are growing?
How is the water moving?
What can I see underneath the surface?
What is reflected?
Then I take those answers (and more questions) and start designing a painting about the beautiful place or detail of nature that I saw. I like to share the peacefulness or the excitement I experienced in a place and try to express the same feeling I had in that place in each painting I make. I am also thankful to the Creator for making such an amazing world with many beautiful and intricate parts to it. This joy and and thankfulness are all woven into the brushstrokes and drawn lines that I make and I would like to share all of this through these paintings with you.
